Bolton face difficult ask at Anfield in FA Cup

FA Cup football returns to Anfield as Bolton face a difficult tie as they take on a resurgent Liverpool side.

We’re all set for a mouthwatering clash as Bolton travel to Liverpool to take on one of the form sides at the moment.

We could be in for a cracker, with Brendan Rogers’s side now looking to be back close to their best and there’s little doubt that the FA Cup is a major priority for all those at Anfield, with the Premier League title race now realistically beyond them.

Its been a slow and steady progress for the Reds, but they now look like they have definitely turned a corner. Its now one defeat in their last ten in the Premier League, and this week they showed their attacking prowess of old, holding Chelsea to a 1-1 draw in the Capital One Cup.

All of a sudden there is an air of optimism over the Red half of Merseyside, and there’s sure to be plenty of excitement as a hunt for goals as Neil Lennon brings his Bolton side looking for a major shock.

Those old enough will remember Bolton’s 2-0 victory in 1993, which was a major shock at the time, but it would take a monumental effort from the Trotters to repeat that result, considering the form of Liverpool at the moment.

Bolton shock Liverpool in their replay at Anfield in 1993.

The Trotters themselves are playing some good football in the Championship, but taking on Liverpool at home at the moment is a whole new level, and Brendan Rogers’s side should have no problems in moving into the next round.
