Lukas Podolski the wrong player at the right time for Arsenal

The German star, Lukas Podolski will go down as one of the great mysteries of Arsene Wenger’s reign at Arsenal.

After all, he is a World Cup winner, a prolific forward and a player who formed a mutual bond with the Arsenal supporters. But he was only ever a bit-part player at Arsenal before being loaned to Inter Milan on Monday, which will surely herald the end of his Gunners career.

As, his love affair with the fans goes beyond turning the use of social media into an art form, which helped keep the forward in favour on the terraces when Wenger wasn’t giving him much of a look-in.

Supporters could see Podolski trying to connect with them while sporting his Arsenal shirt. He is not your usual run-of-the-mill footballer. He is bright, enthusiastic and extremely talented.

Yet, he has gone to Inter Milan, and if his six-month loan works out, they have the option to sign him permanently.

Podolski has swapped red and white for blue and black in his pictures, but not before thanking all the Arsenal fans for their support and love during his time at the club.

However, many will be left scratching their heads as to why Podolski, a player with such pedigree and popularity, didn’t really get a proper chance. He is now hopeful of success in Italy.
