Manchester City will be looking to extend their league at the top of the Premier League this weekend when they host relegation threatened Blackburn Rovers at the Etihad Stadium.
With title rivals Manchester United not in action until Sunday afternoon, City have the chance to move five points clear at the top of they can continue their 100% home record in the Premier League.
In total, Roberto Mancini’s have won all 12 of their Premier League homes games this season, scoring 37 goals in the process and conceding on just six occasions. This has been the backbone to their title challenge and they will be determined this to continue.

The main news coming out of City this week has been the return of Carlos Tevez of course, but they will hope that this doesn’t distract them from their main aim – winning their first ever Premier League title.
There is no doubt that the league is still their priority too. They may have secured an excellent home victory over Porto during the week in the Europa League, but domestic matters will still be higher on a list of importance.
As for Blackburn, well they would have been extremely wary about the challenge ahead this weekend if they watched City hammer reigning Europa League Champions Porot, but they must go into this game with the belief they can get something.
Steve Kean’s men certainly need all the Premier League points they can get with only goal difference keeping them out of the bottom three going into this weekend. They had a day to forget in their last away game too as they were smashed 7-1 at Arsenal.
They did respond well to this though with a 3-2 victory over Queens Park Rangers last time out, so there is no doubt that they have a fighting chance of avoiding the drop this season, something not many people gave them a month or two ago.
Looking at the team news for this one, City Yaya and Kolo Toure could make their first Premier League appearances since the Africa Cup of Nations, while the much discussed Tevez is unlikely to feature.
For Blackburn, Gael Givet is expected to play at left-back in the absence of Michael Salgado, while former skipper Chris Samba is on the verge of a move to Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala.
There is no doubt that City are expected to get the job done in this one, but who knows what will happen. It has been a crazy Premier League season after all. This one gets underway at 5.30pm on Saturday evening.
