Man City face Chelsea in Community Shield as punters pile into Manchester club at attractive price

The Premiership season is now just around the corner as Man City face Chelsea in the Community or Charity Shield, with Paddy Power reporting  City the favourites at odds against of 5/4, and publishing a new free bets offer to use on the football.

Both Manchester City and Chelsea will be aiming to get the competitive action of the 2012/2013 Premier League season underway positively this weekend when they meet in the Community Shield.

Taking place at Villa Park due to the small event going on in London at the moment, this is the traditional curtain raiser for the new season and it should be a decent contest.

Community Shield : Paddy Power Free Bet Offer

The Community Shield is upon as this weekend, as well as some superb club friendly matches as Paddy Power announce a new free bets offer worth £250/250 to all customers to spend! They’ll also refund bets if Sergio Aguero scores first! Claim here!

Chelsea in particular will be looking to lay a marker down for the new campaign. They may well be Champions of Europe, but they were nowhere near involved with the title race and this has to change.

The Blues can perhaps put last season down to a managerial change – Roberto Di Matteo replaced Andre Villas-Boas in March – but now they have Di Matteo in permanent charge, have had a productive summer in the transfer market and should be ready to challenge.

New signing Eden Hazard could feature this weekend and although Oscar – who signed for around £25m – will not feature, he has shown how important he could be for Chelsea with some eye-catching performances in the Olympics for Brazil.

As for Manchester City, they are the reigning Champions, so it is all about continuing where they left off. Unlike Chelsea, they have failed to add to their squad as yet, but they will be confident of having more than enough for a successful campaign.

Roberto Mancini does know that his side need to improve though as the likes of Manchester United and indeed Chelsea look to challenge them for the title.

When these two teams met in the league last season, it was a win a piece for Chelsea and City with two 2-1 home victories. This one is a contest that could go either way as well and it should be competitive from the very first whistle.

Find out who will lift the first trophy of the 2012/2013 football season on Sunday afternoon.
