Manchester City are reportedly close to finalising a deal to sign Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic next summer. Roberto Mancini has been chasing a striker since Sergio Aguero was carried off in the opening game of the season against Southampton last month but couldn’t conclude a deal before deadline day. It has now emerged that the Premier League champions have come to an agreement with the Florence club that will see 22-year-old Jovetic pre-sign a contract guaranteeing his arrival at the Etihad Stadium next year. The 20-year-old featured regularly under former manager Andre Villas-Boas and turned in a series of impressive performances under his watch. However with Roberto Di Matteo in charge the Spaniard has seen his playing time dramatically reduced as he struggles to dislodge Jon Obi Mikel from the holding midfield position. Its now been suggesting Romeu could be bound for a return to his homeland after Valencia reportedly had him scouted during an U-21 international against Croatia. a clause in Romeu’s contract stipulates that Barcelona can purchase him at any time and there have been rumours that they will work with their La Liga counterparts to bring him back to Spain. Rossi hints at Spurs switch – Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi has opened the door for a move to Tottenham Hotspur after his agent suggested he could be set for a move back to the Premier League. The Italy international previously spent two-years with Manchester United earlier in his career before moving to Spain in 2007 where he has forged a reputation as one of Europe’s most fearsome attackers. Spurs have held a long-standing interest in the 25-year-old, who is currently sidelined with a cruciate knee ligament problem until early 2013, and could make their move in January.
