The Citizens have been far from impressive in the Champions League this campaign and are yet to win a match in the competition, drawing twice and losing to Ajax and tonight’s opponents.

They have to win their remaining two matches, which includes tonight’s tie with Real Madrid and a tricky encounter with Borussia Dortmund to have any chance of reaching the final 16, but it does look as though they have too much to do.

Roberto Mancini will be desperate for his men to take the spoils here though and if they can get the Etihad rocking, they certainly have a chance. After winning 5-0 at the weekend, City do come into this one firing on all cylinders, as the return of David Silva in midfield has clearly made a difference.

As do Real though as they beat Athletic Bilbao 5-1 at the Bernabeu last time out and will come to Manchester confident about taking all three points.

Cristiano Ronaldo is sure to be one of the key men in this one, as he always is when he steps onto the pitch. After a number of years on the red half of Manchester, Ronaldo will be out to haunt the blue half.

Jose Mourinho’s side are looking to go all the way in the Champions League this season, so a win is just what they need here. They are sure to come and attack their opponents – which could mean this encounter has plenty of goals as the 6/5 on the away win looks a little to big to ignore.

Elsewhere Arsenal look to continue their form after a thrilling 5-2 victory over Tottenham on the weekend as the welcome Montpellier to the Emirates.

The Gunners currently lie second in Group B, a point behind Schalke, but Arsene Wenger’s side will be looking over their shoulders as Olympiakos are only a point behind.

Victory, therefore is paramount for Wenger, although the North London side should have too much quality over a side which has nothing to play for and sit bottom of the group.

It should be a scintillating 90 minutes of action at the Etihad Stadium and around Europe as the group games kick-off at 7.45PM.
