Man City set for £35 million German raid

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is reportedly lining up a £33 million bid for Borussia Dortmund star Mario Goetze when the transfer window re-opens in January.

The Italian has guided City to the top of the Premier League this season as well as a memorable 6-1 victory over rivals Manchester United but is still seeking ways to improve his squad.

Mancini is keen to have a replacement for troublemaker Carlos Tevez in place with the Argentine striker set to leave as the Citizens challenge for trophies domestically and in Europe with the Champions League.

Despite having the likes of David Silva and Samir Nasri who can operate in the playmaker role at the Etihad Stadium the 46-year-old former Inter manager is still keen to tie up a deal for the German teenager in January.

19-year-old Goetze is one of the most sought after players in Europe with his performances at the Westfalenstadion drawing admiring glances from top-flight rivals Arsenal whilst Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona also interested.

However the financial power that City now hold would blow anyone else out of the water and should they offer Dortmund a large enough fee the Bundesliga champions could be persuaded to sell.
