Manchester United manager has heaped praise on Dimitar Berbatov’s professional attitude following his lack of recent appearances for the club. Berbatov enjoyed his best season yet in the 2010/11 campaign and even joint won the Golden Boot, however speculation has linked him with a move away from Old Trafford.
United have been blessed with two rising stars in Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez, whom have both shown impressive signs and have kept Berbatov out of the squad. However the Bulgarian has vowed to stay put and fight for his place in the starting line-up.
The Red Devils also have Michael Owen back in full training, and of course have Wayne Rooney, therefore leaving places in United’s attack very hard to come by.
“Berbatov has been brilliant,” Ferguson emphasized. “His handling of the situation has been terrific. He’s not complained one bit.”
“He’s a really good professional and he’ll play his part, like all the players on the team. It won’t be at this moment in time because the space between games is good. Then we’ve got the international break for two weeks and, when they come back, the European games start up and Berbatov will be involved as he’s got the experience and the ability to play a big part.”
“We had a couple of calls but I’m not going to sell Berbatov,” stated Sir Alex. “No way. He’s first-class, the lad, I must say he’s been tremendous.”
