Owen Hargreaves will once again play a role in the England international setup, according to new manager Roberto Mancini.
The tenacious midfielder, who endured an injury-ridden four years with Manchester United, scored a goal in his first-team debut for City.
The 30 year-old netted the opener against Birmingham City as the Citizens cruised through their Carling Cup third round tie.
After signing the midfielder on a free transfer, Mancini has stated: “I’m happy for Owen. He played well, he moved well and scored a fantastic goal. He can become an important player for us and England. He can become the player he once was.”
