Gael Clichy says that experience will be key in their first Champions League group match against Napoli on Wednesday night.
The French defender has shown impressive form in the early games of the season since his move from Arsenal, including an attacking display against Wigan on the weekend.
Napoli are also making their Champions League debut and Clichy believes his team’s squad will have the edge.
The 26 year-old stated: “Napoli will be tough. If people say they are the weakest side in the group then that is the view of people who don’t really know about football. They are a strong side and if you are at this stage of the competition and in the group, it means you have qualities.”
He added: “We have to keep in mind the way the manager wants us to play. We want to get forward and play offensive football, but it is different. “But if we play our best football, as we did on Saturday, we should be OK. We just have to be focussed from the first until the last minute.”
