Manchester City have decided that Atletico Madrid star Sergio Agüero will be the man to replace Carlos Tevez with the Argentine destined to leave Eastlands this summer despite no serious takers for his services thus far.
Agüero is considered by Manchester City to be the perfect replacement for the hard working Tevez and recent information has suggested that Atletico will not consider any form of bid by their local rivals Real Madrid should anything be forthcoming by the Bernabeu club.
City had slapped a £50m price tag on their 27 year old captain which is unlikely to be reached by any European giants this summer with a figure ranging from £25m-£32m believed to be more likely. Agüero, at just 23 years old is said to very keen on a move away from Atletico and Manchester City can offer him Champions league football with Mancini expecting a key Dzeko/Agüero forward partnership up front to terrorise defences.
With Tevez’s Argentine team mate just half an inch shorter, and also able to fill in the role behind the main striker he would be considered the perfect like-for-like player in Tevez’s absence. His ability to strike the ball with either left or right has also shown that he can cause defenders the same sort of problems as the Manchester City captain can too.
With Tevez wanting to move back home many sides will not wish to risk such a huge investment on someone considered to be homesick and although a straight exchange between the clubs looks unlikely, it could prove to be an interesting proposition for both sides.
City are however quietly confident that their captain shall remain at Eastlands but will make a move by the end of this month should the forward decide he will be too unhappy to stay. Should an exchange not be a beneficial idea for either side then a bid of £30m will be expected to be enough to tempt the Spanish club into agreeing a deal and allowing the 23 year old to discuss personal terms with City’s management.
