Manchester City are reportedly closing in on the player known in Brazil as the next Kaka, Paulo Henrique Ganso.
The 21 year old attacking midfielder currently plays with Chelsea target Neymar at Santos, and the youngster was linked with a move away last summer to either Real Madrid or Manchester City.
However reports in Brazil suggest the playmaker is on Manchester City’s wish list and that they are preparing a bid to bring Ganso over with one eye on the UEFA Fair Play Ruling that is set to become mandatory in 2012/2013. Ganso will be 22 in October and City are now preparing moves for younger players so that huge investment will not be necessary prior to the 2012 season.
The player is one of the Brazilian press’ favourites and there was even pressure from them on the 2010 World Cup coach Dunga to take him to South Africa with his style being so much similar to that of Kaka.
With Manchester City still unsure on the future of Carlos Tevez, attacking options are certainly the main priorities for this transfer window and the likes of Ganso at Eastland’s with Yaya Toure and Nigel De Jong covering does look to be a tasty proposition.
Ganso has a current market value of £18m although it does appear that Real Madrid hold an interest in him too. Whilst City would be better prepared to outbid Real it is likely that Santos will accept anything from £15m-£20m this summer.
