Manchester City midfielder Owen Hargreaves could return to face Aston Villa after the international break with assistant manager David Platt suggesting the former Manchester United player will play in two games over the break to enhance his match fitness.
Hargreaves was released my the Old Trafford side over the summer after it appeared the club had lost patience with his ongoing knee injuries. In a last gasp move by Roberto Mancini however the Eastlands side quickly snapped the England international up on the final day of the summer transfer window.
Hargreaves made his first appearance for the club against Brimingham City in which the midfielder scored to help the side into the next round of the Carling Cup. Platt suggests the player should be ready to return once the international break is over.
Talking to the Manchester Evening News, the Man City coach said:
“He’s in good shape, when the boys get back from the international break, Owen should be there or thereabouts with his own full pre-season under him.”
