Manchester City plan £50m summer move for Gareth Bale

Tottenham's Gareth Bale is on the wishlist of so many clubs and has probably been linked with moves to every European leagueManchester City are planning a massive £50m bid for Tottenham’s wing back Gareth Bale and may include current West Ham loanee Wayne Bridge in the deal.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp and chairman Daniel Levy are both reluctant to allow the player to leave and the decision will rest finally with the player himself however if the North London club fail to overtake their rivals for another chance in the champions League the 21 year old Welshman may take his chance for a move to Manchester.

With current player values way out of control a player is only worth what others are willing to pay and with the UEFA Financial Fairplay regulations to come in, this summer realisticly represents the last chance for many teams to spend massively on footballing talent.

Should Tottenham and Bale accept the offer it will provide Redknapp with huge funds to find more bargains as he did with Rafael van der Vaart however the effect of losing one of their best players to a top four rival will hurt much more than the £50m would be medicinal.

With Manchester City the only real team to be in a position to pay so much money there is an unlikelyhood of a bidding war with other teams and whilst Real Madrid paid £80m for Ronaldo, a fee of that extent is unlikely to be seen again.

Should West Ham be relegated to the Championship this summer then City will look to include Wayne Bridge as part of the deal – perhaps to lessen the blow – although it has been suggested that the former England left back would like to stay in East London on a permanent move should West Ham remain a Premiership club.
