Manchester City preparing £250m Euro Raid

Manchester City are preparing a massive £250m Euro raid which arguably includes the World Best Player Lionel Messi who they shall offer Barcelona £150m for.

The 24 year old is considered the face of World football with his tricks and ability to dribble around the best defenders in the world and Manchester City feel that now is the time to test Barcelona’s resolve. Messi does have an apparent £120m release clause in his contract and although it is very unlikely that both he and the club will accept such an offer, the Barca board could perhaps be tempted by such a huge amount of cash with they themselves having trouble finding funds for specific players.

Barcelona are at logger heads with Arsenal regarding Cesc Fabregas and any money received for Messi would immediately be made available to bring the Arsenal captain to the Nou Camp. A £27m offer was recently rejected by the Emirates side but one would imagine the Nou Camp side increasing their initial offer should the Argentine head to Eastlands.

Manchester City’s recording breaking summer transfer will not stop there as they look to pip Chelsea to Javier Pastore who now has a £44m price tag and a bid of between £36m to £45m is expected to be made for Udinese’s Alexis Sanchez.

Whilst this will just be the start of the bidding stage there will be lots of negotiating to be done. Sanchez has reportedly mentioned that he would not like to join Manchester City and Messi seems to be a player that will remain at Barcelona for life, that decision may be up to the Barca board, who, as well as Fabregas, would like to have Sanchez and Chelsea’s David Luiz join them too.

City had confirmed that they would make three very big signings this summer and Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp even claimed that their targets would shock the world. Money talks, and the amount of money that Manchester City and Roberto Mancini are looking to spend this summer seems to be meteoric as the club prepare for the Financial Fair Play Regulations next season.

Should Barcelona do the unthinkable and accept an offer of £150m for Lionel Messi, it will smash the current world record held by Real Madrid when they paid £80m for Cristiano Ronaldo by £50m. Manchester City obviously feel that now is the right time to bid for Messi, whether anything actually materialises will be up to the Barcelona board.
