Manchester City signing delighted to have fresh start

ManchesterCitymidfielder and formerEnglandinternational, Owen Hargreaves, says he is happy at his new club and is ready to forget the past three years.

Hargreaves struggled to gain fitness during his time at rivals, Manchester United, famously chalking up only five appearances during his last three seasons at Old Trafford.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the middleman said: “I knew I wasn’t far away, just a few tweaks – every time.”

He went on to say: “I don’t think people would believe me if I said everything that went on, but I am just happy to be back as I never anticipated in my life I would be out for three years – but I am back and I am happy.”

The 30 year-old started his first team debut on Wednesday, scoring the opener in the 2-0 Carling Cup win overBirmingham.

Commenting on the goal, Hargreaves said: “I don’t score a ton, because I am a midfielder but when I do score they are normally from distance, I don’t get many but they tend to be good.”
