Manchester City skipper keeps a cool head

Manchester City captain, Vincent Kompany, has admitted how honoured he is to be the leader of his team, but insists the relationship between him and his teammates will not change.

The Belgian international was appointed as team captain after the future of Carlos Tevez was thrown up in the air.

The tenacious centre-back stated: “It is an honour for me but it doesn’t change my role in the club. I have always been a leading figure and wearing the armband shouldn’t have any effect on how you behave towards the group.”

Kompany led his squad in the club Champions League debut on Wednesday, where the Citizens ran out a tough 1-1 draw against fellow debutants, Napoli.

Commenting on the game, defensive teammate, Pablo Zabaleta, said: “That is something we need to improve and try to correct. We need to keep strong as a team and try to improve. We know we have a good team with quality and we have shown we have chances this year to win trophies.”
