In what is a quite lengthy list of Premier League outfits interested in signing the youngster, Manchester City are reportedly ready to step up their efforts to sign Birmingham midfielder, Nathan Redmond.
The Citizens threw their hat into the transfer mix regarding Redmond late last year and were swiftly quoted a valuation of £12m for the England Under-18 starlet.
It could be safe to say that the asking price was slightly inflated by Birmingham City who will be looking to get as much as possible for the winger, and given the spending record of City in recent seasons, who could blame them?
Redmond first began his journey into the first team plans of the Blues last season when he appeared in three games across all competitions.
However, Chris Hughton has shown more faith in the 17 year-old this campaign with Redmond racking up an impressive 20 appearances.
Despite the fact that nine of the teenager’s 12 Championship outings this term have been from the bench, top flight clubs have been impressed with any glimpses they have been able to catch and the youth is also said to be attracting the attention of Liverpool, Tottenham as well as City’s bitter rivals, Manchester United.
The Premier League leaders may have developed a penchant for splurging on foreign stars over recent years, but a move for Redmond could prove highly valuable and would see the purchase of a starlet who many are tipping for a positive career in future England setups.
Although the transfer may not go for as much as the quoted £12m, City will still have to pay upwards of £8m for Redmond and should other English clubs make offer also, a bidding war could ensue.
