Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli insists the side can be the best after their 6-1 demolition of near rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
Manchester City ran riot after half time which saw United defender Jonny Evans red carded just two minutes after the restart and the Eastlands forwards were able to add three goals after 90 minutes had expired with the Red Devils guilty of attacking when all was lost.
Balotelli feels it was one of their best performances as a team and believes that City can now push on to become the best there is.
Talking to the clubs official website the Man City forward said:
“The feeling was great. To win a derby away at Old Trafford is one thing, but to win it 6-1, none of us knew what to say. We were really happy, it was brilliant. It was a great atmosphere; it was a derby, so that’s what you expect. My first goal was a good goal. I’m a striker and sometimes you don’t think about what you will do.”
Balotelli continued:
“Those types of goal, sometimes they go inside and sometimes they don’t. It was on target and it was a good goal, so I was happy. I think this win and this performance showed everyone that we can be the best. I think yesterday (Sunday) was one of the best we have ever played together for sure.”
The win has put Manchester City five points clear at the top of the table and they still remain unbeaten after nine games with just the one draw.
