Manchester City unwilling to sell striker to Tottenham

Adebayor may have to look abroad for a new clubHarry Redknapp’s attempts to bring want-away Man City striker Emmanuel Adebayor to White Hart Lane have been thwarted after the Manchester club ruled out the possibility of the move. Tottenham are understood to be heavily interested in the Togo striker but City are purportedly reluctant to sell to a potential top four rival.

Adebayor, who spent the last half of last season on loan to Real Madrid, has made it clear he does not want to remain at Man City. In fact, recent reports have suggested the Togolese striker could be fined £300,000 for refusing to train with the club’s reserves after being left behind from City’s pre-season tour abroad.

Tottenham manager Redknapp has not hidden his desire to bring in a forward this summer and Adebayor was an option for the club, potentially on a loan deal. However, the chances of that happening now look all but dead as City indicated they are not interested in strengthening a rival to their Champions League spot this season.

Man City have, though, indicated that they would sell the striker if an offer for the player was received from abroad. It has been suggested that Real Madrid could be interested in reacquiring the striker’s services after he impressed during his short loan stay last season and Mourinho has suggested he wants to add a forward to his squad.

Either way, it looks almost certain that Adebayor, 27, is set for an Eastland’s exit this summer as his relationship with Mancini has worsened since he returned from Madrid earlier this summer. In fact, it is strenuous to the extent that the Togo striker is effectively on strike after being excluded from the club’s pre-season tour and refusing to train with the reserves.
