It had been revealed that Manchester United had already offered £1.5m to have the first option on Gotze although it is also rumoured that Arsenal – over the last 24 hours of the summers transfer window – had a £35m bid rejected by Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The fact that Dortmund and Arsenal will meet in the Champions League could work in the Emirates side’s favour with there certain to be a discussion of sorts between Wenger and Klopp – whether that be about “Super Mario” no one but they will know.
The player is still only 19 and the Germany manager Joachim Low looks to be the best manager at international level to be able to look after the youngster as he looks to build a side capable of winning the Euro 2012 and World Cup in 2014.
