Borussia Dortmund have told clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool that they would be “wasting their time” by trying to make a bid for their current teenage sensation Mario Götze.
The 18 year old attacking midfielder has been the subject of very high acclaim for someone so young and already has four international caps for Germany, as well as featuring for the Bundesliga leaders since 2009.
Although Borrusia’s chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke has claimed that other players may be available, and that offers could be listened to, any approach for Götze would be unavailing.
“We would definitely turn down even a £20m offer. Mario has a contract with us until 2014 and he will remain in Dortmund for at least that long. Other clubs can save their offers for Mario Gotze. It’s a waste of time”.
It is believed that Manchester United and Liverpool will come back at a later date to reassess the situation although obviously Bayern Munich are also keeping a distant eye on how things unfold for the youngster.
