Manchester United considering risk on Newcastle United midfielder

Those at Old Trafford are currently weighing up the risk on TioteManchester United are currently considering the risk factor where Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote is concerned with the club believing him to be too injury prone to be worth a bid.

The 25 year old defensive midfielder has had a fair amount of praise heaped onto him since his arrival at Newcastle United in 2010 but numerous short term injuries to the Ivorian has left an element of doubt in some clubs’ minds as to whether he would be worth the risk.

Tiote was purchased by Newcastle United whilst at FC Twente in Belgium for just £3.5m however his performances for the Tyneside club has seen his profile – and value – increase with numerous outlets suggesting he could be worth between £12m-£15m.

Despite Manchester United currently resisting the urge to add to a rather depleated squad, Tiote remains the one player who the Old Trafford side could consider this January and although two recent 5-0 victories against Fulham and Wigan respectively has led many to ask whether Sir Alex Ferguson needs more players, the 25 year old may still be used to add some weight in the midfield.

Tiote only signed a new six and a half year deal last season but Newcastle United’s manager Alan Pardew has hinted that he might be sold.
