Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand has insisted that his injuries are now in the past and that he is intent on making sure the Old Trafford club compete for the major honours over the next few weeks.
Manchester United have some crunch clashes coming up including the second leg of their Champions League semi final against Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 and then against Chelsea at the weekend which has been tipped as a possible Premiership title decider.
The 32 year old stated.
“..I have been pleased with my performances and I feel back to my best now. My back is fine and hopefully I can put the niggling calf problems I have had this season behind me.”
Ferdinand added.
“I feel good and to be involved in the big games at this stage of the season, fighting for trophies, is what you want as a footballer. We just need to make sure we get the job done.”
Should Manchester United complete the job against Schalke and defeat Chelsea at Old Trafford then the chance of another double will be on the cards as was the case in 2008.
