Manchester United midfielder, Anderson, knows full well the kind of threat that Benfica will pose to his side’s Champions League tournament as he returns to Portugal tonight.
The Red Devils are playing the Portuguese side in Lisbon as they open their 2011-12 Champions League campaign on the back of a thrilling Premier League start.
United have scored 18 goals in the domestic season’s first four fixtures, bagging a maximum 12 points, however the Brazilian international knows that form could all come to nothing against the ’61 and ’62 European Cup winners.
The 23 year-old, who is seeing the best form of his career so far this season, said: “It is very special to play here as a former Porto player. Benfica are stronger now than when I played in Portugal for Porto.”
He added: “They are growing and are more experienced. The coach is very good so they will be difficult to beat.”
