Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is already planning to build on the United squad next summer and has pencilled in both Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Gotze and Everton’s Jack Rodwell as possible acquisitions.
Manchester United’s youngsters were devastating on Sunday when they punished a poor Arsenal side 8-2 at Old Trafford but Ferguson is still looking to the future and will assess both Rodwell and Gotze over the coming season before making a decision in May.
Manchester United are rumoured to have already agreed a first option on Gotze with the Bundesliga side and a transfer fee of around £20m would probably be enough next summer to land the young German. Rodwell meanwhile has had his price drop over the last six months with many claiming he would be worth £25m.
This figure is now expected to be around £15m, a chunk of cash that Everton manager David Moyes will find difficult to say no to, especially when one considers the other youngsters Moyes has coming through the ranks.
If yesterday’s demolition was not scary enough then the future of Old Trafford should Ferguson continue to build will surely dazzle over the up and coming years.
