As January draws nearer, Manchester United fans will be looking to Goodison Park for their next big signing, as talks heat up regarding the purchase of Ross Barkley.
The midfielder has now been on the radar of Sir Alex Ferguson for some time after the Scot failed to tie up any sort of summer deal and it is believed that a little more attention than normal shall be shown into the youngster this weekend when Manchester United face Everton.
However, the New Year could prove more fruitful for the Red Devils as they look to once again take a youngster off the hands of Everton to groom as they see fit.
The past example spoken of is of course Wayne Rooney – perhaps the most famous export to leave Goodison Park.
Barkley has been extremely impressive so far this year and despite being only 17 years-old, earned his first call-up to the England U-21 side earlier this year.
It’s not certain how much Barkley would cost to take away from the Toffees, however some are placing a fee of between £20m – £25m on the youth.
