Manchester United identify long term Evra replacement

Old Trafford are keeping a keen eye on Cissokho this seasonManchester United are to consider the acquisition of current Lyon left-back Aly Cissokho as a long term replacement for the aging Patrice Evra.

At 30 years of age many feel that Evra will not have much longer left at the Old Trafford club at the current pace he plays the game and the left side of defence is one area that the club are looking into with a view of bring in a fresh face.

Manchester United do have the Da Silva twins Rafael and Fabio however they are primarily right-backs and although Jonny Evans can also play in that role, Manchester United are considering a move for a specialist in that area to cover for Evra.

Aly Cissokho only joined the Ligue 1. side in 2009 and has since made over 60 appearances for the club and is a player that is highly rated across Europe. Summer saw the young Frenchman become the subject of huge speculation with Arsenal and Liverpool rumoured to have been interested. Liverpool eventually decided to go for the tried and tested approach and brought in Newcastle United’s Jose Enrique whilst Arsenal went for the Brazilian defender from Fenerbahce, Andre Santos.

Although Evra is certain to stay at Old Trafford for some time yet it appears Manchester United are continuing to plan ahead for the future. Cissokho only turned 24 last month, very much the same age Evra was he joined from Moncao in 2006.

With figure unclear at the moment and the player likely to be focused on the current campaign with Lille it remains to be seen whether Manchester United consider the player to be a quality addition next summer.
