Manchester United in pole to land defensive Dutchman
Sources from The Netherlands has suggested that Manchester United are in the driving seat for Chelsea target, and current Ajax right back Gregory Van Der Wiel.
It has been known for the defender to be in much demand across Europe but is now believed that the Dutchman would prefer to fight for a place against United’s current right back Rafael than join elsewhere. He also understands that with Manchester United playing so many fixtures every season, that he will be given plenty of game time.
For Wes Brown, this could mean an end to his Manchester United career, and although primarily a centre-back, the emergence of Chris Smalling could mean Brown heading for a new Premiership team in the summer.
Shoud Manchester United and Ajax agree a fee for the 23 year old international then it could be the first of numerous Dutchmen to be joining Old Trafford with rumours also rife regarding Wesley Sneijder, Maarten Stekelenburg and Arjen Robben.
