Manchester United net £40m training kit deal

Premier League champions, Manchester United, have again reinstated their stance as pioneers of the game by becoming the first club to have commercial advertising – on their training kit.

Logistics company, DHL, have signed a four-year deal with the Red Devils that allows their logo to be branded on United’s training gear, outside of European competition.

The deal is worth £40m, and will contribute to the estimated £100m post annual income that Manchester United are expected to rake in when they announce their end-of-year results.

Sir Alex Ferguson commented: “Manchester United has always been at the forefront of the game off the pitch as well on it and this partnership is another example of that.”

Regarding the club’s 16m-strong fanbase in Vietnam, where the club has just signed a telecommunications deal with Beeline, the Scot added: ‘Everyone knows about the passion of our fans in that part of the world and this deal makes it a lot easier for us to keep in touch with them.”
