Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to give Paul Pogba his first-team debut in this year’s Carling Cup competition.
The 18 year-old came to Old Trafford amidst a wave of controversy, after Le Havre accused the Red Devils of tapping up their youngster.
However, the Scot is now ready for the French Under-18 international to slip into his first-team plans.
Speaking to Inside United, Ferguson stated: “Pogba’s in the first-team training set-up now. After that, it’ll likely depend on when we decide to make changes. He’ll probably be involved in the League Cup and that’ll be his chance to establish himself in the squad.”
Pogba also spoke on the matter to French magazine 10 Foot, noting: “Sir Alex gave me confidence by picking me for the pre-season game against Marseille in August. So I know I’m on the right track.”
