Spanish sources are reporting that Manchester United could be ready to make a move for Athletic Bilbao attacking midfielder, Iker Muniain.
The Premier League champions have been associated with a move for the 18 year-old in past transfer windows, but agents in La Liga are tipping this year to be the one where a switch finally comes to pass.
Muniain made his Bilbao debut at the age of 16 in 2009, and has slowly migrated his way through the ranks at the Basque outfit, becoming an integral part of the team.
The youngster has started all of Bilbao’s seven league fixtures this season and has helped the side to reach their current 11th placed position.
It’s known that Muniain has a release clause of 45 million euros in his contract that would allow him to move on from Athletic Club.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are two other giants interested in signing the starlet, however it’s suspected that neither club will go above odds to grab the teenager, as Bilbao will surely hold out for more money if they are to sell to another Spanish side.
Mancester United may not be too keen on the 45 million euro price either after the club posted record profits this year, and will be looking to save as much money on transfer fees as possible before the Financial Fair Play initiative kicks in next year.
