After Rennes manager Frédéric Antonetti confessed that his star would be leaving the club at the end of the current season, it appears that Yann M’Vila is destined for bigger things and will become subject to a Manchester United approach in the summer.
Arsenal and Manchester City are known to already hold a firm interest in signing the defensive midfielder but United will now stage a bid of their own for the player.
Midfield has been a noticeable difference for the Red Devils this season, with many criticising the lack of depth in the creative line.
Anderson, Tom Cleverley, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia have all experienced time on the sidelines with injury, leading Sir Alex Ferguson to call Paul Scholes back into the foray.
M’Vila has been earmarked as a future star for the French national side and has already featured for Les Bleus on 18 occasions since making his debut in 2010.
Despite his age, the 21 year-old has also made almost 120 appearances for Rennes, recently captaining the side for the first time earlier on in the campaign.
Phil Jones has filled in a central midfield role when called upon and has done the job well at times but cover at holding midfield would not go astray.
M’Vila may be set for an exit from the Ligue 1 club but Rennes will by no means let the player go unless they clinch the right fee.
The starlet will be expected to command a fee of around £23m and with Serie A and La Liga outfits also known to be monitoring his situation, one would think that they’ll get it.
