Manchester United ready to announce first signing of 2012

Although we still have 24 hours to wait before the official opening of the winter transfer window, Manchester United fans can take satisfaction in the fact that their club have already made their first signing.

True to fashion, Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly secured the services of yet another South American starlet with PSV Eindhoven teenager, Andreas Pereira, packing his bags for Old Trafford.

The Brazilian-born youth is too young to have signed a professional contract with the Dutch giants and jumped at the chance to join up with the Premier League title holders, announcing on his Twitter account that he was set for England, saying:

“To everyone I’m going to MAN U in January.”

The news came after the 15 year-old was invited to Old Trafford for a tour and actually got to meet Ferguson on his visit.

In an interview with Dutch newspaper Voetbal Primeur, the starlet stated: “I knew that PSV had given me my chance, but Manchester United is obviously a great club, other British clubs were interested. I thought about it, but Manchester United is a dream club for me. I have been a few times to Manchester United to have a look.”

Soon after, the above tweet was posted, and the deal looks all but done before the window officially opens on January 1st.

Pereira is an attacking midfielder and currently plays in the Belgian youth program as a part of their Under-16 side.

The teenager is a second-generation footballer after his father, who played for Royal Antwerp in his own career.

Although supporters of the Red Devils will be hoping for bigger catches in the January window, they’ll be pleased to have already had a nibble so early on in 2012.
