Manchester United see Aston Villa starlet as midfield solution

In addition to the multitude of names already on the long list, reports are suggesting that Marc Albrighton is the latest player to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The former England Under-21 star has become an integral part of the Aston Villa midfield, making 50 appearances for the side over past year, scoring seven times.

Sir Alex Ferguson has a tough decision to make in January when it comes to his midfield, as a number of his creative unit could be missing in the New Year.

Tom Cleverley is battling an ankle injury and could return later this month, Anderson will be out until February at the soonest and Darren Fletcher will be out for the foreseeable future with a stomach illness.

Despite claiming that the club wouldn’t be dipping into the January transfer market, Ferguson may have to go back on his word if he expects to retain his Premier League title.

Following their failure to sign Dutch star Wesley Sneijder over the summer, some critics say that Manchester United lack the creative flair that they’ve showcased in recent seasons.

In this regard, Albrighton presents something Manchester United very much need.

If there’s anything the 22 year-old brings to the game, it’s creative flair that puts the ball on a plate for those further off the pitch to finish.

The maestro has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the past, however a host of Premier League outfits are rumoured to be considering a move for Albrighton including Liverpool.

With his contract set to expire in 2014, Albrighton is reportedly valued at around £10m and could be a cut-price alternative addition to a similarly youthful Manchester United squad.
