Manchester United set to approach South American starlet

In an effort to improve their Portuguese-speaking contingent at the club, Manchester United will look to add another starlet from the nation to their side with a summer move for James Rodriguez.

The Colombian prospect has spent the past two seasons at Porto and would join the likes Anderson, Nani and the da Silva twins as fellow speakers of the Portuguese tongue at Old Trafford.

However, the interest in Rodriguez could signify the departure of winger Nani, who has been linked with a move away from the Premier League side for over a year now.

Although the Portuguese international is undoubtedly capable of inspirational skill and scoring prowess, he has developed a reputation for being wildly inconsistent and should a club be willing to pay enough for his services, the Red Devils may consider the sale.

Rodriguez has made 19 starts for the Primeira Liga giants this campaign, scoring ten goals and making nine assists in the process.

The 20 year-old has made great strides in his development over the last year, already almost doubling his goal tally from the whole of last term.

Following on from last season’s Europa League winning campaign, one could understand it if Rodriguez was happy at the Estadio do Dragão.

That being said, interest from Manchester United has often proven hard for player to turn down and if Sir Alex Ferguson’s side are willing to shell out Porto’s £16m valuation of their winger, he may be plying his trade elsewhere next term.
