Reports from Spain have suggested that Manchester United are still keen on bringing Germany international and current Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Özil to Old Trafford.
It was first rumoured after the World Cup last summer that Ozil would me joining the Red Devils after a superb tournament for his country but nothing materialised and a move to Real Madrid became reality at an approxiamate £12m for the former Werder Bremen player.
His time at Real Madrid has seen him pick up almost 30 appearances netting five goals in the process and for the first time in six seasons, he has helped Real into the last 8 of the Champions League.
However, with news that this will already be Jose Mourinho’s first yet last year in charge at the Bernabeu his position in La Liga will be tested should Manchester United test the Spanish giants with a bid during the summer.
Whilst it is likely that Madrid will want to keep hold of their World Cup star it is believed that they would accept an offer close to that of what they paid Werder Bremen last summer meaning that Ozil’s age, and cost, would suit Sir Alex Ferguson’s current transfer plans of young talent with a possible sell on value.
