Manchester United stopper agrees Old Trafford departure

Sources have reported that Tomasz Kuszczak has signed for Watford on an emergency loan deal until the end of the season.

The Polish stopper had slipped out of favour at Old Trafford, falling behind 2011 signings David de Gea and Anders Lindegaard as well as youth product Ben Amos in the Manchester United pecking order.

Kuszczak has yet to make a first team appearance for United this seasons an will undoubtedly relish the opportunity to assume the No. 1 spot again.

However, competition is expected to be stiff at Vicarage Road, with former England Under-21 star Scott Loach currently holding a starting berth for Watford.

The loan deal isn’t the first for Kuszczak, who was loaned to United from West Bromwich Albion before sealing a permanent move in 2006.

It’s currently unknown whether or not the stopper will move to the Hornets on permanent terms at the end of his loan spell, but it could certainly be an option for both parties.

Kuszczak has made 61 appearances for United since becoming a Red Devil in 2006, failing to hold down a starting XI spot under the now retired Edwin van der Sar.

Although David de Gea has failed to prove his summer price-tag as of yet, Anders Lindegaard has been on hand to step in when necessary, making a good impression for the Premier League giants.

As a result, Kuszczak’s future chances of becoming first choice for United seem slim and he is known to be seeking a transfer away from the club.

The 29 year-old has announced on several occasions how desperate he is for first team football and although stepping down to England’s second tier wouldn’t be his first choice, desire for game time might ultimately prevail.
