Manchester United superstar target insists money was not key to transfer

Failed Manchester United transfer target, Wesley Sneijder, has insisted that his massive wages were not the factor that blocked his move to Old Trafford.

Instead, the 2010 World Cup finalist says that he simply did not want to move away from Inter, and instead chose to stay at the San Siro.

The Daily Mirror reported the playmaker as saying: “My feeling was that I was simply feeling very good at Inter. I love the club, but also the Italian culture and the people. It fits with me.

Speaking on the financial state at the Italian club, the Dutchman said: “I just felt that it was close, yes. We had several talks. The situation was such that Inter had to sell a player, either Samuel Eto’o or me, and indeed there was interest.”

The financial state at Old Trafford are improving too, with the club posting record profits of £110m, however it seems the deal was simply not to be.
