Manchester United switch full attention to Chelsea target

Manchester United may be waiting to make their move for Luka ModricManchester United will switch their attention to Tottenham Hotspur midfielder and Chelsea target Luka Modric after a deal with Inter Milan failed to materialise.

The San Siro want at least £35m for their inspirational Netherlands international but Manchester United feel that at 27 years of age, an investment of that sort of money could be spent on someone younger and the club are prepared to offer a player as part exchange.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has already claimed he will not sell Modric to Chelsea for £35m, which whilst is the same amount Inter Milan would expect for Sneijder, so many would not expect the White Hart Lane side to sell to Manchester United, Modric also openly stated that he would like to join Chelsea. Although, it could have perhaps been any team within the top four that he perhaps meant rather than just heading to West London.

Numerous Manchester United players including Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand have spoken highly of Modric recently, something many conspiracy theorists could consider a ploy to interest the Croatian into a move to Old Trafford and should Sir Alex Ferguson really be serious about the international playmaker then a test of Tottenham Hotspur’s resolve certainly shall be forthcoming.
