Manchester City make the journey to Old Trafford this evening to take on Manchester United in the Premier League.

When the fixture list came out and these two saw that they were locking horns in April, both Sir Alex Ferguson and Roberto Mancini would have thought it would be a massive game in terms of the title, but that isn’t the case.

United are 15 points clear of City at the moment and even if they suffered only their second Premier League defeat on home soil this season, they would still expect to take the trophy from their ‘Noisy Neighbours’.

No one can argue that the Red Devils have been the best side in the league this campaign as they have led the way for the majority of the season and they have won 25 of their 30 games, which is seven more than the current champions.

You can be sure that Old Trafford will be rocking for this clash with the Premier League being the only trophy that Ferguson’s men can win, he won’t be worried about resting players ahead of a big Champions League or FA Cup match.

The 1-0 defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-final replay on Monday was a poor one, but the Scotsman is sure to make a number of changes here and the biggest of them all could be Wayne Rooney coming back into the side as he has been the main man over recent weeks.

7/1 are the odds you get on the Englishman breaking the deadlock here.

As for City, they are four points clear of Chelsea in third position and do have a game-in-hand, so should be landing second place this season.

They also find themselves in an FA Cup semi-final against the Blues this weekend, so there is still a chance of some silverware heading to the Etihad.

In truth, the Citizens shouldn’t need much motivating for this one as although it isn’t the title-deciding clash they would have hoped for, it is still a massive game against their bitter rivals.

For years, they didn’t get anywhere near United and were in the bottom half of the table and this game still meant so much, so the visitors should be up for it.

We have seen with some performances this season that Mancini’s side are capable of beating anyone in this league and defensively, they have been superb in the last couple of months.

City have conceded just five goals in their last 14 matches across all competitions and during that time, they have won ten matches, keeping a clean sheet in each one of them. They look decent value at 5/2 to win here.

As long as the away side remain solid at the back, they have a chance of winning this one, but they of course need to be at their best going forward. Both Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero are at 8/1 to score first.

We are all set for a scintillating 90 minutes of Premier League action from 8pm this evening.
