Manchester United are touted as 4/11 favourites to beat Stoke and cap off a good week for David Moyes side by getting their second win in three games this week.
Despite a disappointing draw against Southampton last weekend, Manchester United will be looking to build on their midweek Champions League victory by defeating a rather deflated Stoke side.
United have started slowly this season and have found themselves in 8th place after eight games and find themselves eight point behind leaders Arsenal.
However, David Moyes will be pleased to have Robin Van Persie back in the squad after the Dutchman missed the Champions League victory against Real Sociedad with a few knocks and bumps.
His return will be a much needed boost to the United attack which is still missing both Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck who are still nursing injuries picked up during the international break.
The upcoming meeting is something that has always been a kind game to Manchester Untied with the reigning champions having beaten Stoke in the last 11 times the game has been held at Old Trafford.
Stoke will really need a turnaround in their fortunes if they are to break that record with The Potters failing
to win their last five league games and they now sit 16th in the table just one point above the relegation zone.
Mark Hughes’ job will be made even tougher considering that Stoke will be without American midfielder Geoff Cameron who is nursing a knee injury that forced him to miss last week’s draw against West Brom.
Meanwhile, club captain Ryan Shawcross is another player who is likely to miss the game as he battles to recover from an illness that has made him miss training for much of the week.
A trip to Old Trafford is usually a bad omen for Stoke fans who have failed to beat Manchester United there since 1976.
In addition to that, The Potters are really struggling for goals at the moment having just scored 4 times all season with none of the squad able to score more than once all season.
With a lack of goals and history going against them, Stoke are very much outsiders for the trip to Manchester and United will be looking to cap their week off with a resounding win as they look to close the gap down to the leaders at the top of the league.
