Manchester United have set their sights on Tottenham Hotspur’s midfielder Tom Huddlestone as the long term replacement for Owen Hargreaves who could be on his way out this summer.
According to reports in Manchester, the Old Trafford club have pinpointed Huddlestone as the perfect replacement who can act as a defensive midfielder yet chip with the occasional goal. The midfielder has been injured since November of last year but his performances prior to reaching the treatment table were at a level suggested to impress the Manchester United management.
However with Owen Hargreaves having spent his last two years on the sidelines, Ferguson will not wish to exchange one injured player for another so Huddlestone will watched closely when he returns to action to make sure there is no repeat of the Hargreaves situation.
Should Manchester United seriously be considering a bid for the 24 year old then a bid of up to £12m is reported to be enough for Tottenham to part with the former Derby midfielder.
