Manchester United winger Ashley Young could miss out on the trip to Everton with manager Sir Alex Ferguson suggesting the former Aston Villa man has a toe injury.
The 26 year old will be reassessed on Friday with a decision likely to be made later on in the day. Ferguson also suggests there are a few others that may not make the squad for United’s next Premier League match although he fails to mention which players in particular.
“We have one or two knocks, Ashley Young has a toe injury and we’ll see what he’s like today. The knocks are nothing serious and I hope we’ll have a strong enough squad for tomorrow.”
Meanwhile the Manchester United boss has said he would like to put last weekend behind them and look to push on after a very poor result last weekend against Manchester City, one Ferguson described as the worst ever.
“We hope we can recover from the disappointment of last week, we’ve done that well over the years and we have to do that again.”
The Manchester United manager added:
“Nothing changes in football. The challenge is always there to be the very best, which we hope we can do now. It’s been a tough week for everyone, it was a bad result last Sunday. We have to get over it, though – the fans, the players, the staff. We must kick on.”
United have not won at Goodison Park since 2007 and will be hoping to close the gap on near rivals Manchester City who now have a five point lead at the summit.
