Manchester United’s Tom Cleverley signs new deal

Cleverley has signed a new four deal with Manchester UnitedManchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has signed a new four year deal to take the youngster’s current contract up to at least 2015.

Cleverley made a huge impression against rivals Manchester City during the 3-2 Community Shield victory and was immediately called up to the England international squad under Fabio Capello. The Manchester United youngster had previously gained experience whilst on loan at Leicester City, Watford, and then with fellow Premiership side Wigan Athletic under Roberto Martinez.

Many fans feel that Cleverley’s creativity could be the long term answer to the retired Paul Scholes with numerous parties suggesting long term target Wesley Sneijder is no longer required with the potential the young Manchester United midfielder has shown.

Manchester United’s manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, believes the 22 year old has all the attributes to become one one of United’s finest.

“Tom is one of the brightest prospects in the English game. He has a good footballing brain which, coupled with his energy and ability, makes for a player with a fine future.”

Meanwhile the player himself admits it has been a great start to his season.

“It’s been a fantastic start to the season, breaking into the first team and getting an England call-up.”

Although Cleverley is yet to feature for England on the pitch, it appears England manager Fabio Capello would like to include the 22 year old in the up and coming friendlies with the side already qualified for the European Championships next summer.

Cleverley is however currently out of action after suffering a foot injury due to a poor tackle from Bolton Wanderers captain kevin Davies.
