The Premier League weekend was one to savour last time out with a number of big shocks, lots of goals and plenty of entertainment. Over recent weeks, games have been really tight and decided by the odd goal – but last weekend saw five encounters won by two goals or more.
It all started with an absolute cracker between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, with the Gunners taking the spoils in a superb 5-2 victory. This game had it all and the turning point was certainly Emmanuel Adebayor’s red card just after he put Spurs 1-0 up.
In the 3PM games, West Bromwich Albion continued their superb start to the campaign with a 2-1 win over Chelsea. The Baggies have now won their last three in the league and sit in the top four, with the Blues now without a win in three.
Reading also surprised a few when they beat Everton 2-1 at the Madjeski Stadium, which was their first victory of the season. Queens Park Rangers are still searching for their first win though after going down 3-1 at home to Southampton, which was a fantastic result for the Saints.
Manchester City really fired on all cylinders last weekend as well as they thrashed Aston Villa 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium, a result that saw them move to the top of the table.
There was also a comfortable 3-0 win for Liverpool at home to Wigan and it was Luis Suarez who grabbed the headlines once more with another two goals for the Reds.
Swansea City caused an upset as well as they took three points at Newcastle United to move into the top half.
The evening kick-off on Saturday saw Norwich City and Manchester United lock horns at Carrow Road and it was the Canaries who took the spoils with a 1-0 victory. It was a superb evening for Norwich and they are now unbeaten in five and United lost away from home for the first time since August.
There was just one game on Sunday afternoon and it saw Sunderland beat Fulham at Craven Cottage – which was somewhat of a surprise. The Black Cats ended their poor form in front of goal and won 3-1.
This evening sees West Ham United and Stoke City meet each other at Upton Park in what is sure to be a physical battle.
