Aston Villa manager, Alex McCleish has claimed that he can’t afford to let go of any of his squad, for their team is too thing already.
The Scot doesn’t believe the team would have enough time to bring in adequate replacements if they sold now, and says that he must even hold on to fringe players.
Jean Makoun was thought to be heading for the Villa Park exit after failing to impress since he arrived from Lyon, with Olympiakos a likely destination.
When speaking to the Express and Star, the former Birmingham boss stated: “That goes for Jean Makoun too because, if Jean went, the clock is ticking down and I don’t know if I could bring somebody else in.
“It would be dangerous to lose some experienced players,” he said.
