Even though the race is likely to last less than ten seconds, it will be full of drama.

The hype and excitement is already starting to build for this event and it is one where the current Olympic Champion and world record holder Usain Bolt will be desperate for gold.

Bolt could do something special here and will be looking to break his own record on the biggest stage.

However, it appears that the Jamaican is not quite 100% fit and he has not been in the best form over the last year or so.

He was of course disqualified in the final of the World Championships and in the Olympic trials was beaten by Yohan Blake. You cannot write the fastest man in the world off though and he is the one to beat.

As for Blake, he is the reigning World Champion and the man who seems to be Bolt’s biggest challenger.

Blake has ran the fastest time in the world this year and if we are talking about in form sprinters – he leads the way.

There is then Tyson Gay of America who is still searching for his first ever Olympic medal. Gay did not make the final four years ago after looking as though he was carrying an injury.

Now though, Gay seems to be in great shape and ran an impressive time of 9.86 in the Olympic trials but will know it will take a big improvement to challenge for the gold.

Asafa Powell was considered as one of the favourites in Beijing but since then he has been living in the shadow of Bolt and Blake.

Powell is certainly a medal contender along with American Justin Gatlin who is returning to the Games after a doping ban ruled him four years ago.

It is all set to be a thrilling battle and it is likely to be between Blake and Bolt for gold. However, in this event if you slightly of your game, then it could be a disaster.
