Manchester United are set to offer the England international another year on his contract as he nears the end of his current contract
According to reports, Manchester United are all set to activate a one year extension to Michael Carrick’s contract at Old Trafford with a salary of 130,000 pounds a week in a bid to keep the influential midfielder at the club beyond the summer.
Carrick had already agreed to the aforementioned clause when he signed a two year contract extension with the Red Devils back in 2013 and has also expressed his desire to stay at the club.
At the age of 33, the former Tottenham man is reaching the twilight years of his career and has many times stated his desire to retire at Manchester United. Since returning from injury, Carrick has played a huge role in improving his team’s fortunes in the league and his efforts have done enough to convince Louis van Gaal into handing him an extension to his contract.
Moreover, Van Gaal is already impressed with the qualities Carrick has shown since his return from injury and wants the five time Premier League winner to be an integral part of what he is trying to achieve at the club.
