The former star striker believes that The Reds need to find an ideal replacement for Steven Gerrard and feels that Paul Pogba is the perfect player to replace the Englishman.
At the age of 34, Steven Gerrard’s value to the club he has spent all his career with, seems to be under a lot of scrutiny with the midfielder not featuring as regularly as he used to in recent past. Moreover, it has been reported that the England international might consider leaving Liverpool for another club.
And, Michael Owen, who played with Gerrard for both club and country, says that there is one particular midfielder out there who can be the perfect replacement of his former teammate.
The once touted Golden Boy of English football says that Liverpool should do everything they can in their power in a bid to acquire the services of Juventus star Paul Pogba who he feels is an exceptional talent and can do a world of good for the Reds.
‘Steven Gerrard’s not going to go on forever so the ideal replacement there would probably be someone like Paul Pogba at Juventus.
‘He’s an exceptional talent, a young talent that can play in that drive an central midfield role,’ said Owen.
However, with the likes of PSG and Real Madrid already keeping tabs on the youngster, it seems unlikely to see the France international ply his trade at Anfield.
